My Short Stories
I write short stories in a variety of genres: historical, literary erotica, paranormal and contemporary. Though I am mainly a novelist, I love writing short fiction in the spaces in-between, sometimes inspired by the shreds of a dream, sometimes by a prompt and often by a painting.
The following are available to read online:

NIGHTMARE IN CLAPHAM
1968: in the seedy world of south London boarding houses, a gifted teacher succumbs to cyclothymia. A tale told by a most unreliable narrator.

THE DOME
Recovering from a nervous breakdown, the narrator goes to recover in rural Norfolk, but falls into the hands of a cult.

RARE ORCHID, LATE FLOWERING
Going through their late mother’s things, two sons make a startling discovery, forcing them to reconsider their own relationships.

HOMELAND
A flight across mountains into wartime Moravia; survival depends on reinvention of self.

THAT’LL TEACH YOUS
Belfast, 1973: a little girl witnesses a sectarian murder, with unforeseen consequences. Inspired (unfortunately) by real events.
